Lisa & Adam are Engaged!

I met Lisa and Adam on a lovely fall afternoon in downtown Madison. Lisa and my husband were great friends through high school, so it was fun to meet up and get to know each other a little better. Adam and Lisa met with attending UW Madison, so we hit up all of the spots that were reminiscent for UW Alum.

Here are a few of my favorites! Being a UW Alum myself I had the hardest time choosing (anyone seeing a trend here?) so to see more of my favorites, check out Jenn Van Wyk Photography on Facebook.

My husband Brian came along as a second shooter and grabbed some great shots! This one is his -

Now Lisa and Adam met one winter day on campus. Lisa worked at the Red Gym and was interviewing Adam for a job. She said she was so disinterested that she didn't even take her mittens off to write notes down. And now, they're getting married! We had to get a few in front of Science Hall, the interview site. I love it when couples can integrate personal details into their shoots!

Tania Class of 2010

1

I met Tania and her mom at the Arborteum last week for her senior photos. A senior at West High School, Tania is not short on ambition or personality! I really enjoyed getting to know her, and walking around the Arboretum it is very apparent she is going to be successful. Next fall she is planning on attending UW Madison (woot!), focus in pre-law.

The Arboretum is becoming my new favorite place in Madison to shoot, and with beautiful light and a "sassy" subject they were the perfect combination! I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorites to just a few for the blog, so be sure to become a fan on Facebook to see the rest!

The Mauer Family

I met the Mauer family on a beautiful summer night at the Arboretum. The sun was setting, Brennan had a bunch of little smiles for us, and everything was great until the mosquitos found us! Poor Becca was just covered in bites after we left - thank goodness for photo shop!

This family is always a ton of fun to be around, and the last time I took their family pictures Brennan wasn't walking. In fact, he was perfectly content with sitting in one place. Not this time! I definately had fun chasing this little cutie around. The Mauers will be welcoming another little one in to their family soon, and I couldn't be more excited for them. Thanks guys for a great night, and I hope you enjoy your photos!

This is the "I'm going to run away" face! So cute!

This is the "what is this strange lady doing in my face with a camera" face : )

Joy & Josh are Married!

Last weekend I had the privilege of photographing Josh & Joy's wedding in Sheboygan Falls. Joy is my cousin-in-law, and to be such a integral part of her day was a honor. With some unexpected life circumstances, they were unable to have the photographer they hired for as long as they liked, so I got to fill in gaps. Although Joy thought she was giving me second fiddle, I didn't feel that way at all! It is always great to be able to use my photography in a way to help others, especially family. I don't get to see that side of my husbands family much, so it was awesome to get to know Joy, Josh, and their wedding party a little bit better - and to me that is worth it!

Plus, secretly I have been dying to go to a salon with the girls - and I got my chance! : )

So here are my select favorites from the day, to see more, become a fan of Jenn Van Wyk Photography on Facebook!

I have to laugh, after Joy started tearing up after receiving a text from a friend, she exclaimed "Isn't there some sort of medication you can take to stop yourself from crying?" Oh, Joy. It's an emotional day, and crying is 100% ok!

Joy giving us a little preview of the Grand March attire.

Now over to the guys getting ready - I think this shot sums it up well. Josh's laptop on the back of his car - watching a You Tube Video on how to tie ties - good news - they figured it out!

Josh's cufflink broke, but luckily they were getting ready in his garage... a little super glue did the trick!

All ready to go!

Back over to the ladies. I loved all of Joy's details including these awesome shoes!

Joy's beautiful boquet

Yay Mr. & Mrs. Heinen!

Onto the reception!

This was the most hilarious grand march I have seen! I seriously want to go out and buy a box of these glasses, they were so funny! I couldn't choose, so here are a few of my favorite goofy ones of the wedding party:

I think this is a good one to end on : )

Thank you Josh and Joy for letting me be a part of your day - I had a great time! Best of luck to the new Mr. & Mrs. Heinen!
