5x7 Mini Wedding Album

Andy & Sharon - Mini Album Example
Hello! I wanted to share with you all a mini 5x7 album I designed for one of my couples Andy & Sharon. Often times we think of a wedding album being large and something reserved for the coffee table, but it doesn't have to be! As stated in the title, this album is just 5x7 inches, and fits nicely in any purse or backpack so you always have your photos with you.

Or, they make a great thank you gift for parents, grandparents, and wedding party members.

Check it out!

Nineteen Frames Challenge

As you all know, I love to blog read and another one of my favorite photographers to follow is the Youngrens, a husband/wife team from San Diego. Recently they took a vacation and Jeff happened upon this desert beach resort (insert photographer flip out here), and realized he only had room for 19 pictures on his memory card. You can read more about his adventure here (and add them to your reader/bookmarks while you're there - you'll want to check back often!)

Anyhoo, Jeff posed a challenge to all of us photographers out there to approach a scene and only take 19 pictures... with an extra added challenge of no looking or deleting. In other words, pretend that we were shooting with film and make each frame count.

I will admit that sometimes I do get carried away with digital images - the fact that each picture is "free" and I can snap as many as I want doesn't always make me a better photographer. I know if anything, this challenge and my 365 project have taught me to slow down, observe a scene and take one or two interesting photos of a scene instead of 1,590. Because really, who needs 1,590 pictures of a leaf? :)

I had been keeping my eye out for a scene for a week or so, and was wondering where I was going to go when I happened upon this place last Saturday. I was shooting some photos for one of my groom's bands BOWSER (but more on this later), and they led me to these abandoned buildings in downtown Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin (insert photographer flip out here). I knew it was perfect. Lots of old stuff. Lots of falling apart stuff. Lots of stuff in places that don't make sense.

But I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Here are my 19 photos!

Albers Family

Albers Family

Last Sunday I had the fantastic opportunity to hang out with the Albers Family! Peyton has just celebrated his second birthday complete with a school bus cake - how cute! He did such a great job at our session, and as you will see, with big smiles and giggles all around. Peyton even helped me out and took a few pictures of his mommy and daddy for me. If he keeps up the good work I might just have a new assistant :)

I have known the Albers family in one way or another for about 5 years now, so it is always a treat when I get to see them and hang out for a morning!

Friends and family, to sign the guest book and view the rest of the images, click here.

Now onto the photos!

Please note the super awesome Lighting McQueen shoes - and these don't come in adult sizes why?!? I know Brian would buy a pair in a heartbeat!

I couldn't decide which one I liked better between these two, so you get to see both!

Here is a shot that Peyton helped me take - good composition, now we'll just work on getting everyone's head in the pictures! But not bad :)

Photo Friday!

I'm happy to report that I did much better this week at taking a photo every day than last. For those of you just joining us, my goal is to take one photo a day for a year - and here are my photos from last week.

I hope you all have a great Easter weekend! I can't wait to have Peeps and Cadbury Cream Eggs for breakfast on Sunday :)

Getting Ready for Baby R!

Happy April Fools Day!

Do people say that? I'm not sure!?! Anyway... I am a pretty gullible person when it comes to pranks, so today always makes me a little uneasy. Even though I know full well people are out to make jokes today, I still get pranked! Like this morning, I completely freaked out that Google was called "Topeka". Seriously Jenn, seriously. I also was really confused at this article by iHeartFaces. "Senior Photography" in front of a funeral home? I should have guessed right away something was up. Nope.

Part of my problem is I am also really bad at pulling pranks on people. The only prank I remember pulling was when I was about 6 years old. I told my dad we went to Toys R' Us and bought the whole store while he was at work. See what I mean? My 6 year old mind thought it was brilliant!

So go easy on me today! And be assured that I will not be pulling any pranks on you! :)

But what isn't a joke is how excited this family is for the new addition! (did you like that transition there... very nice huh?)
Baby R
This family lives next door to me, so it was a treat to get to know them a little better and hear all about the anticipation of baby number 2! We spent some time around our neighborhood taking a few maternity shots, and I'll be back in the beginning of May most likely for pictures of him or her!
